In the catastrophic earthquakes that hit Turkey and Syria in early February 2023, tens of thousands of people were killed and more than 2.5 million people were left homeless in near-freezing wintery conditions.
TITAN responded swiftly to this disaster in Turkey, with its Adoçim Çimento subsidiary being among the first to cooperate with local authorities to help meet the needs of affected communities, especially in the provision of food, clothing, and heaters.
In addition, the Adoçim team constructed a tent city to provide accommodation to displaced earthquake victims.
The tent city consists of 50 tents and provides accommodation to approximately 500 people in the earthquake-affected area of Kumlu, in Hatay Province. In order to meet their basic needs, it includes a dining hall, 13 mobile toilets and 10 bathroom cabins. Furthermore, Adoçim purchased and distributed 400 beds, 800 pillows and 489 blankets to the residents of the tent city. TITAN’s colleagues in Adoçim also provided toys to the many children living in the tent city.
