To meet Florida’s growing energy needs, Florida Power and Light – the state’s largest electricity provider – is building the Okeechobee Clean Energy Center. Located in northeast Okeechobee County, the high-efficiency power-generating facility will be fuelled by US-produced natural gas and will bring economic benefits to the area. TITAN America is providing 70,000 cubic yards of concrete and 135,000 tons of aggregate for construction of the center. Florida Power and Light has projected a need for more than 1,000 megawatts of additional power generation beginning in 2019, and more in the years to follow.
The Okeechobee Clean Energy Center will be one of the cleanest and most efficient power plants of its kind in the world. It will have a generating capacity of approximately 1,700 megawatts, enough to deliver power to more than 300,000 homes starting in June 2019.
