In early 2016, construction began on Sofia’s third Metro line. The Sofia Metro currently consists of two interconnected lines, serving 35 stations in Bulgaria’s capital, with a total route length of 40 kilometers. The Metro’s third line will be 16km long with 16 stations in total, including two transfer stations in the city center. It will connect Ovcha Kupel in the southwest of the city to Vasil Levski in the northeast. Half of the Metro construction cost is covered by the European Union, with the remaining part funded by the state and city budgets.
TITAN Bulgaria supplied materials to the Stanilov EOOD construction company, one of the project’s main contractors.
The Sofia Metro’s new line will ease traffic congestion and help reduce air pollution levels, a major issue in Bulgaria’s capital.
